Moyrah Gall was born in the Grampian region of the Scottish Highlands. She spent much of her early childhood in transverse of the Atlantic Ocean between America and Scotland. Qualified as a Land Rover mechanic enabled her to work in Zimbabwe. Inspired by the country and people she remained and travelled on, through South Africa, Mozambique, Malawi and Tanzania, returning to Britain briefly, before embarking on her first self initiated photographic assignment to Belarus. Motivated by this experience, she went on to study at Brighton University. During her studies, she joined a program run by Chelsea College to Krakow Academy of Art, and later arranged to take part in an exchange at the School of d'art et de design, Amiens.
